Colonel Bruce Murray, AM

Bruce graduated from the Australian Army Command and Staff College, Fort Queenscliff in 1999 and served as the Fort’s Commanding Officer from 2006 to 2010. 

As an Engineer Officer he has served in a number of command, representational and operational appointments that include Afghanistan, Cambodia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and USA.  He has been a part of the local Queenscliff Community for twenty years and a member of the Association’s Committee for the past five.  

Dr Bob Marmion

Bob has a PhD from the University of Melbourne in history; his dissertation topic was the Victorian defences. He has researched and written extensively about the Fort’s history and the wider Victorian defences from 1803 until 1945.  

He has had a long 25 year association with Fort Queenscliff. He is the Secretary of the Fort Queenscliff Heritage Association Inc and is involved in the Fort’s heritage, education and training programs.

Major Robert Charles, OAM RFD (Retd)

Rob served in the Australian Army Reserve for 48 years. Highlights of this service included winning the prestigious Mount Schank Trophy as a Battery Commander in the Royal Australian Artillery, serving as an operations officer at the Sydney 2000 Olympics and as Manager of the Fort Queenscliff museum for 8 years. 

He has served on the committee of management of the Fort Queenscliff Heritage Association Inc. since retiring from the Army, as treasurer of the association and currently as vice president. In civilian life he has served in several community organisations, often in a leadership role. He has always had a keen interest in military History.

Andrew J Dagg

Andrew served in the Royal Engineers before a second career as a Registered Nurse. Emigrating to Australia in 1997 Andrew held several senior health management roles in rural New South Wales before relocating to the Victoria in 2016.

Following a lifelong interest Andrew completed a MA in Military History with the University of Wolverhampton (UK) in 2022, and presented at the Australian Chief of Army History Conference 2023.

Currently he is Treasurer of the Association and is a PhD Candidate with the University of NSW (Canberra) / Australian Defence force Academy (UNSW/ADFA).

Donnie Grigau 

Donnie s a proud Queenscliff local, community volunteer, and small business owner who has long been passionate about the life and history of the Borough of Queenscliffe. Deeply involved in the community, Donnie has supported local sporting clubs, cultural events, and heritage initiatives that celebrate the town’s unique character.

As a Councillor with the Borough of Queenscliffe and a Board Member of the Fort Queenscliff Heritage Association Inc., he is committed to protecting the town’s rich maritime and military heritage. Donnie believes places like Fort Queenscliff are vital to understanding our past and strengthening community identity, ensuring these historic assets are preserved and appreciated by future generations.

Siranne Hose Gordon

Siranne has worked for seventeen years at the Fort as part of the FQHA and has extensive experience in historical research reports on personnel and the Fort, and the cataloguing and preservation of the historical military collection to ensure its accessibility for the future. 

Her academic background includes completion of the Military Museum Curators Course, Museum Victoria Collection Management and Deakin University’s Postgraduate Cultural Heritage and Museum Studies.
